At least two Picasso paintings, worth a total of €50 million (US$66 million), have been stolen from the artist’s granddaughter’s home in Paris. The paintings, “Maya and the Doll” and “Portrait of Jacqueline,” have disappeared and will probably be never seen again. The Art Loss Register, which maintains the world’s largest database on stolen, missing and looted art, currently lists 444 missing Picasso pieces, including paintings, lithographs, drawings and ceramics.
It would be really unfortunate, if these pieces of art are locked up in some private collector’s locker, never to be seen again. Here are the latest stolen paintings.
Nike has released its first-ever Cricket commercial in India. The ad shows how cricket crazy indians really are. It’s pure chaos and a lot of fun.
Snip from the creators of the ad :
The game in the ad is being played in a traffic jam and captures the chaos and disorder of an everyday cricket field in India, where there could be 21 matches being played at the same time!.” “We wanted to show how cricket is played on the streets in India. These players are as tough, mean and hard (as international cricketers). On our streets in India, cricket is played in the toughest, meanest and best way. It also shows a microcosm of India.
Integrating Technology with clothing has always been a difficult proposition. Even if someone managed to do so, the results were quite cumbersome to say the least. Finally, someone has managed to create a wearable version of the Apple iphone. The iphone can now be kept really close to you.
Little Miss Sunshine was one of my favorite movies of the year. The first-time Scriptwriter of the film – Michael Arndt, took home a well deserved Oscar for best original screenplay. The movie took a low key approach to issues and let us form our own opinions on the definitions of ‘winners’ & ‘losers’. It also addressed topics like anorexia and the sexualization of children. This Youtube video is an extremely satirical look, at the enormous pressure, society places on children to look good.

This is a controversial video of a suicide Bomber on Youtube. The option to add comments has been disabled for this particular video as it caused intense debate among the commenters.
The video has been created by a site called Noterror.info, whose message is “to reveal the true and ample doctrines of Islam, and expose the contempt these terrorists hold for the spiritual essence of our religion. These terrorists and their ungodly way are the ones responsible for making Islam an easily marked target in the eyes of the world, as well as causing Muslims to be the subject of criticism before the world community.”
The ‘N’ word stirs up very strong reactions in people. It is considered to be one of the most degrading and racist words in the English language. An Alabama College is holding a conference to address the origins of the ‘N’ Word and whether juggling a few letters makes it socially acceptable. Organizers feel that “the goal of the event is to challenge the use of the n-word through the use of intelligent dialogue and a thorough examination of black history.”It is quite painful for some that the word is being adopted and freely used by young black kids, who are completely ignorant of the origins of the word.Link to the article on CNN.
Growing Mushrooms takes a lot of effort, but can be quite rewarding. One of the more exotic varities – the Shiitake mushroom, is usually cultivated on dead logs. You can now grow these mushrooms at home easily. The Shiitake Mushroom log is a gourmet’s dream come true. The log needs water and a cool dark place to grow Shiitake mushrooms. The log can keep producing a crop of mushrooms every 8-12 weeks for years to come. It is also a great way to impress your guests.
Bastard magazine is a submission driven art and design magazine. The magazine is driven by artists and submitters who contribute regularly. The issues of the magazine are offered for free in a pdf format.
More from the creators :

No biographical information regarding the creators of the work, no review or assessment of the work, and no other form of written content that could influence or inform the reader further than the immediate emotional response that the work itself prompts.
