Charlie Chaplin was a true master of the silent film era. Though he did not have the advantages of modern technology, he was one of the most influential personalities to ever make films. Hailed as one of the finest performers to grace the silver screen, Chaplin’s expressive face and pantomime act helped him to express emotions beautifully.

Though he avoided making a talkie for a very long time, he finally relented and acted in a few of them.   As a lot of people don’t remember seeing him in a talkie, I bring to you a superb clip from his very first dialogue film  - The Great Dictator (1940). These lines came straight from his heart, and are as relevant today as they were then, coming in during a time when Nazism and Fascism were rearing their ugly heads. You show them, Charlie !
