SHORT stories is a series of short films from the Showtime network. The films were commissioned by selecting seven of the top, cutting-edge film makers from across the internet, who were then given a simple directive – tell a short story in an innovative way.
SHORT STORIES showcases the talent of some of the Internet’s top filmmakers, visual artists, and animators, including the groundbreaking Pes, Academy Award nominee Don Hertzfeldt, and YouTube sensation Levni Yilmaz.
The seven short films will be available on Showtime’s site, and on Showtime On Demand.
Walks of life
In this short film by Cyriak, walking fingers have been used to portray the story of evolution of life on earth.

The good folks at Allied Operations, an architectural organization in New York, sent in some images from their book “Interview with Delicious Storm.” The office was founded by a bunch of graduates from GSAPP (Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation).
Interview with Delicious Storm is a book about an architectural concept for young creative minds. A nonsense idea can be used as part of the invention, referring to the term ideofunction. The publication shows examples of idea narratives and illustrations to explain the creative architectural process.
The books have been limited to a print run of only 25 copies, and are available for sale under a “pay what you wish” model. If you are an upcoming graphic design artist or creative person, I highly recommended grabbing a copy.
Pahnl, a British street art artist, spent hundreds of hours to create this short animated gem. He used a combination of stop-motion animation and stenciled light painting techniques.
With well over 300 hours in the making, more than 200 stencils involved and too many cold nights spent outside on my knees getting the shots, I am very happy (and relieved) to finally share this with you. Through the course of shooting ‘Nowhere Near Here’, I have dealt with curious drunks, a dog almost peeing on the camera (the irony is not lost on me, haha), the endlessly suspicious police and even someone nearly running off with a tripod.
