The second full trailer for the upcoming Monsters vs. Aliens movie is here, and it looks real shiny.
The animation looks almost as good as Pixar’s best. Almost. I do hope that Dreamworks gets it right with the 3D movie, this time around. I found Shrek the Third to be quite a tedious watch.
Watch the trailer after the jump.

Puppet, an animated film created by Patrick Smith, has the right blend of humor and intellectual depth.
The story of the film tells of a young man who creates an innocuous-looking hand puppet, but his creation starts to hurt him in increasingly painful and inventive ways.
Has the hand puppet taken a life of its own, or are the actions of the puppet ultimately the manifestations of the creator’s inner demons?
The film’s soundtrack, composed and conducted by Charles Fernandez, complements the animation beautifully.
Watch the film after the break.
Back in May this year, I had posted an animated video, which was created by researcher Aaron Koblin using data from 24 hours of US air traffic.
Here is yet another animated simulation of air traffic, but this time, it’s on a much larger scale. The video, created by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, depicts worldwide commercial flights over a 24-hour period.

Dans la tête (In the Head) is a short animated film created by the students of the ESMA School of Arts in France.
The story of the film tells of one Betrand Antoine, a rather simple-minded young man, who leaves his girlfriend to enlist in the army. Sadly, Betrand dies in action on the battlefield, but manages to land outside the pearly gates of heaven. Unfortunately, he is denied entry into heaven, as he is yet to complete a certain task. Betrand is sent back to Earth to finish the task (and then die), but things do not go exactly as planned.
You will have to watch the video to find out more.
Note: The video has quite a bit of violence and gore, so be warned.

Cquestrate has been described as an open source project to tackle and reverse the harmful effects of high levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
The lobbying firm behind the project has come up with an audacious plan to reduce carbon dioxide levels back to what they were before the Industrial Revolution.
They have released this short animated video to better explain their idea. I’m not sure if this will really work or even be practical, but hey, it’s a neat piece of animation.
This animated music video was created to promote Taito’s Game Stations arcades in Tokyo.
The storyline of the video involves a small girl who is pleasantly surprised to discover that the aliens in the Space Invaders video game are a friendly bunch, after all.

World War, a short animated film by Vincent Chai, was the winner of the ‘Best Animation Award’ at the 21st Malaysian Film Festival, and one of the runners-up in the ‘Global HD Animation Contest’ on Mytoons.
Amazingly, Vincent created this film for his final degree project at the University Of Hertfordshire.

The Pet Store was a Disney animated short released in 1933 by United Artists Pictures.
The film is notable for being the third and last animated cartoon to feature Beppo the Gorilla, an ill-tempered beast who always kidnaps Minnie Mouse, only to be thwarted later by a clumsy, yet brave, Mickey Mouse.
This particular short pays homage to the other famous angry gorilla of the year 1933 - King Kong.
