‘meta’ is a visually-stunning experimental short film by Jurriën Boogert, a motion/3D designer from the Netherlands. The short film was his graduation project at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.

An applause-worthy, bittersweet short film directed by Alex Weil.

The film starts, deceptively enough, in a grimy subway, but soon there is high drama, thrills, and that complicated emotion that we all get afflicted with from time to time; love.

The film was produced for Charlex Films, and won the ‘Best of Show’ title at the Siggraph Computer Animation Festival.

It’s hard to believe, but its been close to 20 years since “Creep” was unleashed on an unsuspecting world. The song still speaks to me in ways that the others never could.

This literal version, stop-motion animated video for the song, was created by fastidiously putting together 1,544 photographs, shot with a Nikon D60 camera.

And now, a ‘Brisk’ message from Danny Trejo (of Machete fame), on the importance of washing hands after slaughtering people (and making love).

Two young men take on each other in a cartoonish fight, which gets more hilariously fantastic with each passing second.

Train_of_Thought

If you are tired of over-done CGI animated films, watching Train of Thought will prove to be a pleasant change. The charming little film was made by Leo Bridle & Ben Thomas, two graduates of The Arts Institute at Bournemouth.

The makers say that the paper models used in the film were animated by hand, and later composited using software. The short was awarded the ‘Best Experimental Animation’ prize at Animex 2010.

Nowhere_Near_Here_Animated_Short_Film

Pahnl, a British street art artist, spent hundreds of hours to create this short animated gem. He used a combination of stop-motion animation and stenciled light painting techniques.

With well over 300 hours in the making, more than 200 stencils involved and too many cold nights spent outside on my knees getting the shots, I am very happy (and relieved) to finally share this with you. Through the course of shooting ‘Nowhere Near Here’, I have dealt with curious drunks, a dog almost peeing on the camera (the irony is not lost on me, haha), the endlessly suspicious police and even someone nearly running off with a tripod.

Rumspringa is a Los Angeles based rock band, with an exciting and distinct sound. Their first full length debut LP Sway, for Cantora Records, has been described as a "distinct brand of innovative yet relevant funky psychedelic bluesy rock n roll that’s as fresh as it is vintage, and dangerous as it pure."

On an interesting note, the digital-collage cover art of the album was designed by Joey Stevens, the band’s lead vocalist and frontman.

Their bizarre, yet brilliant animated music video for the track ‘Triptych’, was created by artist and animator Winona Reagan. She was given complete artistic freedom by the band, and the results are for all to see.
