Historically, American and British celebrities have had a long history of appearing in commercials made primarily for an Asian (read Japanese) market.
Here are two wacky commercials featuring actor Brad Pitt and a gigantic Sumo wrestler, for Softbank, a cellphone company in Japan. The commercials were directed by ace music-video maker and director, Spike Jonze.
