In response to Radiohead’s online contest to remix the ‘Nude’ track, James Houston rigged together some outdated and obsolete computer devices and peripherals to recreate the song, and a brilliant music video.
He used a Sinclair ZX Spectrum (which I owned, and spent frustratingly long hours loading and playing the 8-bit Batman game with) for rhythm and lead guitars, an Epson LX-81 Dot Matrix Printer for drums, an HP Scanner for bass guitar, and old and dying hard drives were used as speakers to reproduce the vocals.
Robert Hodgin originally intended his music video to be an entry for Radiohead’s Animated Music Video Contest on Aniboom. The song in the video is Weird Fishes/Arpeggi from the controversial In Rainbows music album.
He created the video with Processing, an open source programming language and environment.
